STATEMENT

(Let’s Stand Up Against Sexual Harassment)

SCORA-SCORP CIMSA FK UNRI

Hello CIMSA!

CIMSA UNRI successfully held “STATEMENT” on 12-17 March 2022 in celebration of International Women’s Day. STATEMENT was held online on our social media Instagram @cimsaunri in response to the COVID-19 outbreak around the world.

CIMSA UNRI held STATEMENT because of the many cases of sexual violence against women that still exist. In relation to sexual violence, actions such as insults, harassment, or attacks on a person’s body can result in psychological and physical suffering. The lack of knowledge about sexual violence and harassment can create violence are rarely discussed in the community.

Through STATEMENT CIMSA FK UNRI, we hope to increase public knowledge, especially among women, so that they can recognize incidents of sexual violence in our society and respond appropriately.

Before the activity STATEMENT was held, The STATEMENT organizing committee attended the pre-activity training, which was conducted by CIMSA FK UNRI in preparation for the STATEMENT event. The training was given by one of the CIMSA UNRI trainers, Silvi Angelia May Purba from SCORP. The training was provided to broaden the knowledge of STATEMENT’s Organizing Committee regarding cases of gender inequality and how to approach them.

The implementation of STATEMENT consisted of a talk show and a quiz after the event took place. The talk show was presented by two presenters, Sri Gemala Melayu from Dinas Pemberdayaan Perempuan Provinsi Riau and Ressa Ria from Samahita. On March 13, 2022, the talk show was broadcast via Instagram live @cimsaunri to discuss how sexual violence occurs in Indonesia, particularly Java and Riau, what types of sexual violence are found there, and why anyone can become a victim and perpetrator, what do we do about victims who are affected by sexual violence and how do we respond to them in our daily lives.

The quiz is conducted the same day as the statement, it is conducted via the @cimsaunri Instagram story. The quiz questions are taken from STATEMENT about sexual violence. Participants will be asked to answer questions about how much awareness they gained after the statement was given and hopefully they will be able to implement what they learn in everyday life
