Hello, CIMSA!

CIMSA FK UNRI successfully held SFLS (SCOME For Life Saving) 4.0 on 4th May 2022 from 9 to 11 a.m. This activity was held online via Zoom Meeting since the Covid-19 situation that occurred around the world.

Based on 2012 running data from the HSE, 148 workers were killed at work. At work, injuries and illnesses kill about 2.2 million people in the world each year. Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death in individuals younger than 44 years of age. On average, 15 workers die each day from traumatic injuries. More than 4 million workers suffer a nonfatal injury or illness each year.

SFLS (SCOME For Life Saving) 4.0 aims for increasing medical students’ knowledge and enthusiasm to further develop their understanding of Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Before the activity, we carry out pre-activity training for all of the committees. This training was conducted on Saturday, 28th May 2022 from 9 until 11 a.m. via Zoom Meeting and was attended by the entire committees (OC). The material was given by one of the Trainer from CIMSA FK UNRI, Dhea Ananda Putri from SCOME. The training also has a pre-test and post-test to know OC’s knowledge about the topic that had been discussed.

This activity consists of two main parts. The first part was sharing about First aid for fainting by dr. Hj. Leny Marzal, MARS from Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) Pekanbaru. The material includes the definition of fainting, symptoms of fainting, first aid steps for fainting, emergency signs in fainting people, and ends with training for participants.

The second part was First aid for wounds by dr. Hj. Leny Marzal, MARS from Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) Pekanbaru. The material includes the definition of wounds, wound classification, wound healing process, factors that affect wound healing, wound care procedures, and things to consider in wound care, and ends with training for participants.

Life Saving Training

So, with this activity, We hoped that it can be basic for us as medical and other health students in learning First Aid for Fainting and Wounds so that in the future we can decrease the worst possibility of an unexpected accident.
