RISE
(Breaking the Silence)
SCOME CIMSA FK UNRI
Hello, CIMSA!
CIMSA UNRI successfully held RISE (Breaking the Silence) on 9th April 2022 from 9-11 a.m. This activity was held online via Zoom Meeting since the Covid-19 situation that occurred around the world.
Persons with disabilities in Indonesia are one of the main health problems because the number is high, namely 1,033,698 people and 81,554 people of them are people with disabilities. According to WHO data in 2015, around 35-50% of people with disabilities in developed countries and 76-85% in developing countries, do not receive treatment.
Based on 2020 running data from the Biro Pusat Statistik (BPS), the number of people with disabilities in Indonesia reaches 22.5 million or about five percent. In addition, health services in Indonesia are also still difficult to provide services for persons with disabilities, such as speech impaired people who are still difficult directly connected to health services such as health centers, clinics, hospitals, and other health facilities, because of the communication factor. Therefore, it is necessary to have other communication methods that can support the relationship between health workers and persons with disabilities.
So, SCOME CIMSA UNRI proudly presents RISE (Breaking the Silenc) to facilitate medical and other health students in improving their knowledge and skills regarding sign language.
Before the activity, we carry out pre-activity training for all of the committees. This training was conducted on Saturday, 19th March 2022 at 7 until 8 p.m. via Zoom Meeting and was attended by the entire committees (OC). The material was attended by one of the Trainers from CIMSA UNRI, namely Dina BR Nababan from SCOME. The training also has a pre-test and post-test to know OC’s knowledge about the topic that had been discussed.
