Hello CIMSA! CIMSA UNRI successfully held PROCESS (Protecting Our Earth from Disease Due to Environmental Changes) on Tuesday and Thursday, 08/04/2023 and 20/04/2023 on Instagram @cimsaunri, while pre-activities were carried out 02/04/2023 via zoom. This activity was held in commemoration of Earth Day.
Changes in environmental components can affect health individually or in groups. In addition, non-environmental factors such as socio-demographic identity, poverty, ethnicity, access to health facilities, and comorbidities can exacerbate health problems. Diseases caused by climate change will increase the burden of health services, demands on the health budget, and death rates.
The Riau Provincial Health Office noted that throughout 2022 there were 2,373 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), while there were 64,753 cases of diarrhea. However, the prevalence of leprosy in Riau Province in 2020 decreased again to 0.14 per 10,000 population
Prior to the campaign, a Pre-activity was held to train OCs in understanding the effects of environmental changes on health guided by online trainer Silvia Angelia May Purba. The event was held via the Zoom application. starting with the opening by the mc, then remarks, followed by a presentation of the material by the trainer. the material focuses on the role of every community such as the government, school children, laborers, contractors, and other elements of society that contribute to environmental change. where every community contributes a major influence in environmental change, which can lead to environmental improvement or environmental damage.
After that, the main event was held on Instagram with various activities, such as quizzes, twibbon competitions regarding activities in order to protect the earth, and related infographics, where quizzes and twibbon competitions were enthusiastically followed by the internet citizens. The questions presented in the quiz via the 24-hour Instagram story related to Earth Day are in the form of multiple choices. then the twibbon competition can be followed by inserting an environmentally themed photo that is inserted into the template and then inserted into the lnstagram story. The infographic discusses diseases caused by the environment such as respiratory infections, tuberculosis, asbestosis, diarrhea and dengue fever. Besides that, this infographic also discusses the meaning of environmental change and Earth Day.
