Hello CIMSA!
SCOPH CIMSA FK UNRI successfully performed the HELLO (Quitting Smoking: How Can I Love Myself Without Tobacco ) activity on June 10th, 2023, commemorating World No Tobacco Day. HELLO is held at Santa Maria Senior High School Pekanbaru from 08.00 am to 10.15 am WIB.
SCOPH CIMSA FK UNRI carried out HELLO because, based on the results of the distributed assessment, it was found that there were still many respondents who did not know that vaping is as dangerous as traditional cigarettes. Quoting the data from the Global Youth Survey, WHO stated that in 2019, 40,6% of students in Indonesia used tobacco products, 19,2% of students smoked, and 60,6% of students were not prohibited when they wanted to buy cigarettes because of their age.
Before HELLO was held, OC’s had received training from the PUBLIC HEALTH LEADER, Jane Darmadi Kosen, with the material theme about “Preventive & Smoking Cessation,” on June 1st, 2023, at 8.00 pm WI. We hope that Santa Maria Students’ knowledge about the risk of smoking and consumption of tobacco products increases, they can educate people around them about it, and increase their awareness about the risk of smoking long term from HELLO activity. Apart from that, OCs who are medical students can also become role models in efforts to prevent smoking. The proudest thing is that the event participant achievement target exceeded the target of 80 participants. The following activity flow is an air campaign collaboration with the Indonesian Youth Council for Tactical Changes (IYCTC), where we post an informative video that SCOPH CIMSA UNRI members presented about smoking cessation material from Education Against Tobacco ( EAT) on Instagram @cimsaunri. SCOPH CIMSA FK UNRI also works with RRI Pro 2 Radio on the risk of smoking and smoking cessation. The speakers were SCOPH CIMSA FK UNRI member Kayla A Varandra and Secretary General CIMSA FK UNRI Maisarah Effajri Putri. At that time, at Santa Maria Senior High School, there was counseling related to the risk of smoking and smoking cessation, which the doctor carried out by dr. Yolanda Julia Perel Putri.
